Elena's Birthday!

October 17th, which was yesterday was Elena's birthday.  So, to begin celebrating, on Saturday night we had a party with the missionaries here.  Two other couples had a birthday earlier this week, Ramon and Cathy, so we joined the fun.  It was a good time, with American food, which is nice sometimes, and we played "Gestures".   It was so funny because virtually all the missionaries are foreigners so everyone was making their best guess at these english definitions.  We had quite the laugh :)

The next day we took off to for a little romantic birthday getaway to Nagarkot, a village town with the best panoramic view of the Himalayan mountain range.  It was quite a nice adventure.  We didn't realize this would be a small village without ATM's or VISA acceptance in the hotel, and we didn't bring much cash, so we had to hold our breath, we were almost going to roll up our sleeves and start washing the dishes to pay for our say in the "Peaceful Cottage."  It was a remarkable view.  We awoke at 5.30 this morning and had a view that was almost 200 degrees of mountain ranges.  Everest was sadly covered by the fog, but still it was incredible.  After this we caught a ride back down the mountain with a delightful couple, Denise and Tim.  We met them the night before.  They are from England.  We had such a good time with them.  They were quite kind and even tried to pay for our dinner at the hotel (sadly I payed already, rats! :)  Although, Tim felt bad for not buying these young college students dinner, that instead he payed our entrance into the city of Baktapur's 14th century ancient region.  It's amazing the kindness that you find around the world.
